07 Nov 2022

Rector Magnificus Han van Krieken announced his departure today. In October 2023, after Radboud University's centennial anniversary, he will retire.

In preparation for the centennial anniversary, Radboud University has to start looking for a replacement for Rector Magnificus Han van Krieken. Today, during the Joint Assembly, he announced his departure. After celebrating the anniversary, on 17 October 2023, he will retire.

‘The 100th anniversary of our university seems to be a good time to step down as Rector to me’, Van Krieken says in a press release. The rector is serving his second term, which was supposed to run until 19 May 2024. According to him, thanks to his early departure, it is a benefit for the new Rector to be able to work longer with chair of the Executive Board Daniël Wigboldus, whose term ends on 1 May 2025. The term of the third member of the Executive Board, vice chair Agnes Muskens, ends on 1 January 2026.

Van Krieken, pathologist by trade, has been at Radboud University since 1999. Since 16 May 2016, he has worked as Rector Magnificus.
