Nijmegen bucket list
It’s coming to the end of the academic year. For many people it’s the last few days in Nijmegen, luckily for me I have another six months. But for many of you poor unfortunate souls it is time to say goodbye to Havana on the Waal. So here is my Nijmegen bucket list, my recommendations for must-do’s before you leave.
- Go to the river beach at the Waal, bring a barbecue or some beers or a book or all of the above. Sit, chill and say hello to the cows for me.
- Go to at least one party at Waalhalla and Doornroosje.
- Eat an awful (yet delicious) snack from a vending machine in Febo.
- Go on the Pannenkoekenboot and eat your own body weight in pancakes.
- Watch a film at LUX.
- Attend some kind of street party.
- Spend a sunny afternoon people/duck watching at Kronenburgerpark.
- Attend a festival in a park.
- Infiltrate a fraternity/sorority party.
- Go to the Grote Markt and eat some haring (or falafel if that’s more your thing).
- Drink a fancy beer in ‘Café Samson’ and in ‘In de Blaauwe Hand’.
- Check out the Honigcomplex, and visit the monthly market or drink some hipster coffee.
- Go to a party in Onderbroek.
- Go to at least one museum.
- Spend a day chilling at the Berendonck lake.
- Join a communal meal at De Klinker.
- Check out the view from the top of the Erasmus Building.
- Go window shopping in Lange Hezelstraat.
- Watch the sun set behind the bridges from Valkhof Park.
- Cycle home drunk (if you have not done this yet, what have you been doing!?).
- Cycle to Germany, so you can impress your friends back home (even though it only takes half an hour).
I’m sure I am missing some, if you have any ideas please comment as I have another six months to fill!

I love your list, and I miss Nijmegen too. I’d add:
-Go to a live music Friday night at Cafe Dollars
-Have a walk around Brakkenstein park and the wild garden behind it
-Have a picnic in Goffert Park
I see you’re Scottish! Any bucket list for a Spanish (and Dutch at heart) student, who will leave Dundee in a few weeks? 😀

Thanks for your lovely suggestions!
In terms of Scottish Bucket Lists… I don’t know much about Dundee but check out the East Neuk of Fife, its pretty near and very beautiful.
Other than that, climb Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh, party in Glasgow, eat some tattie scones, jig the night away at a ceilidh and (if you can make it) visit Skye, one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Enjoy!! 🙂

Greetings, Mirte
