The orientation week is here! Many of the three thousand new students are unfamiliar with the city and the campus and are taking their first steps in navigating their new student life. To help them on their way, Vox published a special bilingual issue with a handy fold-out map.
First-year students can use all the help they can get. After all, everything is new: a new degree programme, new friends, a new room and a new city. This special Vox issue can help you get through the first few weeks. Half of it is in Dutch and the other half is in English, with a slightly modified content to suit the large group of international students starting here in September.
The opening article is about the somewhat precarious financial situation many students find themselves in. The move to Nijmegen comes with its own share of costs. How much does a student room cost? When are tuition fees collected? Where can you go out on the cheap and how does the Dutch student loan system work?
Fold-out map
The orientation week special gives you an overview of the hotspots in the city and on campus. Think of it as a Lonely Planet for students. It also contains two flow charts that explain the ins and outs of student life. And finally, all of the locations mentioned in the issue can be found on the large, fold-out map that is included with every copy.
The PDF version of this issue is now available online.
