As of today, students van vote for the University Student Council (USR). The two participating parties, asap and AKKUraatd, look forward to being able to campaign physically again after two years of online elections.

A turnout of only 23,7 percent: last year, the student elections at Radboud University turned out to be not so popular. Whether that was due to a malfunction in the voting system, covid or simply disinterest, was unclear.

Students will choose new members of the USR this week. Members of the USR talk with the Executive Board about decisions at the university that concern students. The student council consist of eight seats. The two parties that are participating in the election are – as in previous years – asap and AKKUraatd. As per tradition, they divide the seats fairly: both fractions have consisted of four students for years.

Interviews with party leaders

Vox interviewed both party leaders about their plans and the upcoming campaign. ‘Everything is finally allowed physically again. We can talk to students on campus. I would love to hear from them what is keeping them busy and what needs to change,’ says head of asap Mark Bunschoten.

Hugo van Bree, party leader of AKKUraatd, is also looking forward to the election week. ‘What we are going to do exactly, I will keep a secret, but our goal is to win as many seats as possible,’ says Van Bree.

Online ballots

Students can vote online via the voting call sent to their mailbox on Monday morning. The online ballots open at 9 am today and close Thursday June 2 at 2 pm. The results are presented a day later, on Friday June 3.
