ISN Nijmegen wins European prize

03 apr 2018

The recently founded Nijmegen section of international student association ESN, ISN Nijmegen, has won an international prize during the Annual General Member meeting in Costa Brava. They were awarded 'best new section'.

Every year, all sections of ESN International come together to vote about proposals and meet each other. This time, 522 sections met in Costa Brava, Spain. One of the elements of the programme is an award ceremony, the STARawards. ‘We applied for the STARter award, the one for best new section’, says Lisette te Hennepe, president and founder of ISN Nijmegen. ‘We had to send them a lot of information. For example, how many members we have, what kind of projects we have started, and what kind of projects we do.’ Based on what they have done in the past months, they were chosen as the winner for the award.

Te Hennepe is very proud, she says, but she also thinks about all the other things ISN Nijmegen could still do. ‘We are working hard to get even more members’, she says. ‘On top of that, we want to connect international students with the rest of society. We are looking at high schools and organisations for the elderly for possible cooperation. But we are also very busy with the activities we have already started.’
