Meet our new bloggers
Starting today, Vox has two new international bloggers: Eilidh Turnbull and Bruna Dias Coimbra. Together, they will write about what it is like to be an international student in Nijmegen.
Bruna Dias Coimbra is 25 years old and comes from Brazil. She is a student in the Master’s programme in Human Rights and Migration Law. Back in Brazil, she worked for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and writing about this topic and Human Rights is something she enjoys to do. She also likes to write about gender-related aspects and human behaviour. In the latest Vox, she says making friends in The Netherlands is different from doing so in Brazil: ‘People interact in completely different ways in Brazil. Our personal space is smaller – we share more, we talk more. We are more social. […] On the other hand, once you’ve found friends, you’ve got real ones.’
Eilidh Turnbull is 23 years old and comes from Scotland. She enrolled in the Master’s programme in European Law, specialisation in Human Rights and Migration. Her favourite topics to write about are culture, travel and current events, and not surprisingly, she likes to travel, read and cook. Her favourite spot in Nijmegen? ‘The beach near the river where the cows hang out – is it called the Waalkade? Or Kronenburgerpark on a sunny day.’
