Emma, Floor, Tom, and Daan. Those are the most common names among an estimated 4.000 intro people. Participants of the intro are from 73 different counties, and the Faculty of Social Sciences has the most participants.

With registrations at the Radboud Sports Centre, the orientation officially starts today. But who are all these new freshmen? Some figures at a glance:

Women are most strongly represented at the Radboud Intro: no less than 59.5 per cent of participants are women, compared to 39 per cent men, and 1.5 per cent x. By far the most common name of the intro is Emma, with 32 people. Furthermore, among women, the most popular names are Floor (26) and Lotte (23). Among men, these are Tom (19 times), Daan (19), and Koen (16). The oldest participant in the intro is 35 years old, and the youngest is 16.

In total, the intro will have about 4.000 participants. This is slightly less than last year when it was 4.300. Declining student numbers could play a role in this. Approximately 1,100 mentors will show the first-year students around Nijmegen and Radboud University.

Germany and Hungary

A total of 73 nationalities are represented at Radboud University’s orientation week. Most freshmen – following the Netherlands – are from Germany (106). Spain (40), Italy (29), and Hungary (28) are also well represented. Additionally, plenty of students are from China (23), Poland and the United Kingdom (both 21), Greece (17), and Belgium (15).

The Faculty of Social Sciences has the most intro people. This is followed by the Nijmegen School of Management; Faculty of Science; Faculty of Medical Sciences; Law, and Arts. The Faculty of Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies has the least participants.
