New in Nijmegen (2): Puck

26 Aug 2020

First-year communication science Puck van Pinxteren (18) is not in a hurry to find a room. She has a positive impression of Nijmegen.

‘I am very happy to start university. Since March, I barely had to do anything, so the past few months have been very monotonous. It’s a shame how we had to end the last year of high school. Whether I thought about a gap year? No, not at all, that seems very boring to me.

‘The start of orientation took some getting used to, nobody really knew how everything worked. It is clear that the organisation really tries to make it nice, though. We did a digital pub quiz, the organisers of that really put effort into that.

‘It’s a shame that classes are mostly online. I only have to come to campus one day, I think until december. That’s why I am not in a hurry to find a room, even though it is my plan to do so eventually. When I do move into a student home, I think it is most important that the atmosphere in the house is good.

‘My impression is that Nijmegen is a fun city. More of a student city than Den Bosch, where I come from. I do notice the difference, for example when I go out to a bar. I could never study in Den Bosch.’
