New in Nijmegen (4): Elias
Law and economics student Elias Balke (18) had originally planned to study in Groningen, but ended up in Nijmegen due to a late registration.
‘In July, I received the news that I had registered too late at the University of Groningen. Therefore, I had to look for an alternative. I just tried it at the Radboud University first. After only one email I was told that I could start in Nijmegen in September.
Only, I had never been to Nijmegen before; I heard from other people that it was a nice city, but nothing more. So this week, I really got thrown in the deep end. But I like it. The first days I had a good time; I am in a fun group with nice people.
Until now, I only haven’t seen much of the city yet, because we partied every day. Thursday evening, we went to fraternity THOR and on Wednesday we attended an après-ski party. Today is only my first day on campus, but it looks very promising.
Living in a dorm here seems good, because I have to travel from Zwolle and I think it’s nice here. But we’ll see. I don’t feel any pressure to look for a room yet, so I’ll see how things will work out.’
