Law students Isa Rietman (18) and Sabine Jurriaans (18) actually didn't know what was so great about Nijmegen, but they find out more and more every day.
‘My whole family studied here, but I often wondered why they liked their student days so much,’ says Sabine. ‘But I’m slowly finding out. The city is beautiful, but also very cosy. There are students everywhere and the atmosphere is good. It’s more fun than I had expected.’
Isa agrees. ‘That’s why I am looking for a room in Nijmegen. I’m from Haaksbergen, so I’m also on the road for an hour and 45 minutes before I get here. Two good reasons for me to actively look for a place to live here.’
Sabine, on the other hand, stays at her parents’ place. ‘I come from Venlo, that distance is easy to do. I also don’t feel like living in a dirty student house. At home I have a lot of space for myself, now that my brother and sister don’t live at home anymore.’
In any case, the girls agree about the introduction week: it was great. ‘We had nice intro parents and a nice group,’ says Isa. ‘Even though it was tough: we partied a lot – on Thursday evening we were at a nice party of the Elegast fraternity – and slept little.’
