There it is: the Radboud app
'The Radboud app? Does that exist already?' Many students do not yet know about the existence of the new app that was launched last week, where you can check your schedule, grades and study progress. How do students who did download it like it?
‘Yes, I have downloaded it, it is a good app’, says Sébastiaan Versteeg (20), student computer science at Radboud University. ‘It does miss some functionalities though. I can only see my final grades from Osiris, while most of my grades are on Blackboard, they could still build that in. I do doubt if I will use the app. My schedule is in my agenda book, and I have my laptop for the rest.
Would it be possible to hack the app? Versteeg: ‘You will not be able to adjust your grades, in any case, haha. The app is only allowed to read Osiris’ database, not adjust it. Maybe you would be able to read other students’ grades with a hack, but messing with data will not be possible. That is well-arranged. StuComm B.V., the company that made the app, has enough experience. They have made an app for T.U. Delft before this one.’
More than satisfied
Student faction asap, which has lobbied for an app in the past years, is more than satisfied. Bob Smits, party leader: ‘Two years ago, the Radboud app was on our ten-points-list: last year’s faction has made sure it became reality. The first day of the academic year, the app still had some hiccups, but it has improved significantly.’
Will the asap leader use the app himself? ‘Definitely! It is convenient and clear: you easily get acces to your schedule, grades or study progress. I think students will like it.’
The new version of the app is in the Apple and Google Play store.
