Write about chance and win a trip to CERN
In May, chance will take over campus. For this reason, Vox and the Week of Chance are organising a writing contest. Write a short story or a poem about “chance” and win a trip for two to CERN in Geneva.
What do you need to do? Write a story or a poem on the theme of chance. It could be about chance encounters during your studies, an accidental discovery during your scientific research, or the role chance has played in your career. Of course, you may also write something fictional.
If you wish to participate, make sure to meet the following criteria:
- Your story or poem is no more than 1000 words
- The theme is chance
- It must be written in either English or Dutch
- The story or poem must be sent to [email protected] by 1 May
- You are a student, staff member or graduate of Radboud University
The jury consists of Radboud alumna and writer Lotte Lentes, mathematics professor Klaas Landsman, Vox editor Paul van den Broek and bookseller Wouter Roelants. We will announce the winner during the Week of Chance (16-20 May). The winning piece will be posted on voxweb.nl and the author can bring a friend (or parent) on a trip to CERN. The second and third-place winners will receive a copy of the book The Challenge of Chance, worth sixty euros.
