Executive Board complete again from 1 January: Agnes Muskens joins as vice president

30 Nov 2021

Agnes Muskens is the new vice president of Radboud University. She joins the Executive Board from 1 January. Muskens has a background in the banking and consultancy industry.

President Daniël Wigboldus announced Agnes Muskens’ arrival yesterday at the meeting between the Executive Board and the students and works council. ‘I, as well as the rector, am very pleased that our supervisory board just appointed a new board member’, said Wigboldus. ‘We look forward to the arrival of Agnes Muskens.’ Since the departure of Wilma de Koning last spring, the board had been missing a vice president.

Until last summer, Agnes Muskens worked as a partner at Deloitte Consulting. She was responsible for the servicing of banks and insurers when it came to finances. In a further past – until 2008 – she filled several management roles at financial institutions, such as ABN AMRO and NIBC.

Heavy wallet

Muskens will obtain a ‘heavy’ wallet at the board of Radboud University. As vice president, she will lead files such as IT, finances, social security, workload, and inclusion.

In a press release by the university, Muskens says she is looking forward to her new job. ‘I feel honoured that my role on the Executive Board will allow me to work closely with the other board members, staff members and students so that I can contribute to the continuing development of Radboud University’s solid foundation.’

In the same message, Merel van Vroonhoven, chairwoman of the Supervisory Board, praises Muskens for her years of experience in the field of finance and operational management. ‘Her expertise is a great addition to the already present scientific and educational knowledge in the Executive Board. Furthermore, she has a sharp eye for talent development and diversity.’

Woman

After the departure of Wilma de Koning, who exchanged Radboud University for the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW), an emphatic search was on for a female board member. After all, the board consists of mostly men: president Daniël Wigboldus and rector Han van Krieken.
