New in Nijmegen: Yi-Chi Huang

18 Aug 2016

Yi-Chi Huang comes from Taipei (Taiwan) and will go to the management faculty of Radboud University this year. She is not looking forward to the cold Dutch food.

Why Nijmegen?
‘At my home university, Radboud University was advised to me, I did not know yet that it was in Nijmegen. I had never heard of the city before. A classmate who went here last year has told me some things, so I am kind of prepared for what I will find.’

What did you notice so far?
‘How green the city is, Nijmegen has a nice and open vibe. Taipei is full of flats. The silent streets here surprised me, because at home, people are always on the street. What I also noticed, is how expensive public transportation is, in Taipei, busses and trains are much cheaper.’

What are you looking forward to?
‘The trip through Europe that I am planning, especially a visit to Budapest, a very famous city in Taiwan because of a horror film. And I want to meet a lot of people, so I can practice my communication skills.’

What are you anxious about?
‘I studied communication in Taiwan, a management study is new for me. I am a bit nervous about if it will be possible to understand all classes.’

What are you going to miss?
‘The food! I already miss the lovely food we cook at home, we eat much more hot food, even for breakfast. The food is so cold here, all that bread and cheese.’
