Researcher hosts nights for starting comedians: ‘It’s just like sex. You try things – and they don’t work’
‘Lower your expectations.’ With these words, Alexandr Pereverzev welcomes the audience -including lots of students- to his stand-up comedy night. By day, the Radboud researcher works in a lab at the Institute for Molecules and Materials. By night, he hosts comedy nights at Café van Ouds, including a monthly ‘open mic’.
At the open mic, anyone can climb the stage and attempt to make the audience laugh. Some are very successful, others decidedly less so. But, says Pereverzev, that’s all part of the show. ‘You’re going to hear from them for the first time, maybe the last time. Ever.’
